LED Lenser Waterproof Torch – Frogman Power Chip – Black
by Lianeh on May.29, 2009, under Patrol Store
Brand new at Patrol Store comes the Frogman from LED Lenser. Waterproof for up to 60 metres it is ideal for divers and those who find themselves working in the rain a lot. Also perfect for police search operations.
Although LED torches are nothing new and the concept is simple, the diodes consume a fraction of the power that is used by a filament-type bulb and also has incredible longevity – typically around 100′000 hours (which is more than 11 years of continuous use).
The problem with diving torches in the past is that while they have been bright to look at, they rarely emit enough light to be used as a primary diving torch. With LED Lenser’s Frogman that is not an issue as the 75 Lumen high intensity CREE LED light chip sees to that. The patented prism reflector system gives the torch a supremely bright beam, giving the diver maximum visibility when under water.
The single handed operating flick switch is easily activated and can even be done so with thick gloves on.
The watertight construction of the LED Lenser Frogman is CE and TUV rated.
Every feature of the torch is geared towards delivering the best quality visibility at the maximum depths possible. With its superior build, the LED Lenser Frogman is built to last, withstanding the rough and tough stuff that other torches simply can’t handle – but at the same time it remains remarkably light.
And to top all that off it also comes with a draw-string lanyard meaning that you’ll always have the torch in easy reaching distance for when you need it the most.
Specifications:
- Prism reflector system
- High intensity CREE LED light chip – 75 Lumens
- Watertight construction – 60m depth
- Single handed flick switch
- Burn time of up to 50 hours
- Dimensions 160mm x 41mm
- Weighing in at 232 gms

Evidence – Oxford University Press
by Lianeh on May.06, 2009, under Patrol Store
Evidence – Oxford University Press provides a clear account of the key principles of the law of civil and criminal evidence in England and Wales, presented in a clear, accessible and readable manner. Although the book takes the relevant legal principles as the basis for discussion, it sets these principles against the background of a consideration of more fundamental issues, such as underlying the law of evidence. The book achieves a successful mix of critical and thought-provoking analysis.
Ongoing debates such as those relating to the implications of the Human Rights Act 1998 are considered fully. The book includes a full discussion of the Criminal Justice Act 2003, which changes fundamentally the law relating to hearsay and bad character. Where appropriate, the state of the law in other jurisdictions is examined as are the academic literature and the work of bodies, for example the Law Commission. This text is accompanied by a companion web site which will provide students with updates and web links.
This book is aimed at undergraduates studying evidence as part of their law degree. It will also be of interest to practitioners and to academic researchers.

Blackstone’s Preparing For Police Duty
by Lianeh on May.04, 2009, under Patrol Store
Whilst the title Blackstone’s Preparing For Police Duty suggests it is targeted primarily for people who are interested in joining the police or are waiting for parts of their application to be processed, it should also be read by so many more people than this.
Anyone who is thinking of joining would find it very useful in its description of the police set-up and how the police services are organised. Also anyone preparing for interviews would find some excellent advice about what it really takes to become a police officer.
Serving as an excellent primer in the law and procedure for the potential officer it has a good and very basic overview of criminal offences and points to prove.
It’s written in an easy to read style and has very helpful examples and points to consider throughout. The layout of Blackstone’s Preparing for Police Duty is very clear and the chapters are laid out logically. The book also reinforces knowledge by referring back to points covered earlier on in the book and includes suggestions for further reading and web-links.
The selling point of Blackstone’s Preparing for Police Duty for many of it’s readers is the chapter containing real-life experiences from officers at all ranks as it gives an honest view from the people you may go on to work with. This makes it a great help for people who don’t come from a police background and their only imagination of the police service is from the media’s representation.
When you start your training as a student officer you will also have the basic knowledge of areas that are covered in this book, for example the history of policing.
Blackstone’s Preparing for Police Duty is clear, concise and easy to read. If you are serious about applying it also gives you advice of what to expect during the daunting application process.
